James Cook Wins 2014 Stonham Junior Players Championship
In a rearranged event due to the rain last Sunday, James Cook, a 15 year old from Thorpness Golf Club, won the 2014 Stonham Junior Players Trophy with an excellent score on the day of 31 (2 over par). James has been a regular supporter of the junior events at Stonham Barns since 2008 when he was 8 yrs old. What a great way to complete James’s last Stonham junior event as he will be ineligible next year.
In second place was Ryan Turnbull, 12 year old from Cretingham, who won this event in 2002. Ryan scored a 33, just two shots behind the winner but he did win the Boys Under 12 Trophy.
The best score from the girls was from Rio Everitt, a 10 year old from Stowmarket Golf Club who scored a very good score of 35, which was in fact the third best score of the day. Rio won the Girls U10 trophy. The next best girls score was from Tegan Arlow, a 13 year old from Rookery Park scored a 37 which won the Girls Under 15 trophy.
This event was a combined event which included the Stonham Players Championship and the Suffolk County Development Squad medal. There were 21 players which included 6 girls and 15 boys.
