James Cook wins two in a row at Stonham
James Cook, a 14 year old member of Thorpness Golf Club won the August Junior Tournament at Stonham Barns with an excellent score of 33 (4 over par). This was his second win after winning the July event four shots.
With good weather after heavy overnight rain the Stonham course had drained well and it was in great condition for the juniors who produced some good golf.
In the Age categories the Under 12’s was won by 11 year old Charlotte Smith from Felixstowe Ferry Golf Club. The Under 10 Age Group was won by a regular at Stonham Barns, Mary Cuthbert, a 10 year old from Thorpness Golf Club and the Under 8’s was won by 7 year old Henry Meadows from Fynn Valley Golf Club.
There are eight junior events every year at Stonham Barns on their short 9 hole golf course. Usually they are held on the last Sunday of each month from April to November.
